A crime can have severe effects on a victim. Weeks, even months after the event, a victim may be still experiencing emotional problems, which can lead to feelings of guilt, frustration, and anger. Domestic Violence Counselors are counselors who are specialized in helping victims of domestic violence (DV). Becoming a DV Counselor is very commendable and a very rewarding profession for those individuals who want to become DV victim advocates.
The 40 Hour DV Counselor Training will provide an overview of domestic violence with presenters including police officers, detectives, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, survivors and more.
Subjects include: the history and dynamics of domestic violence, cultural diversity of domestic violence, children of domestic violence, crisis intervention, domestic violence reporting, advocacy and more.
*Completion of the 40 Hour DV Counselor Training meets the requirements set by the California Evidence Code 1037.1 for designation as a Domestic Violence Counselor.*
