LaTEENa Power! Curriculum Facilitator Training

LaTEENa Power: An Empowerment Program for Latinas in their Teens

Join Dr. Ana Nogales on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 9 - 4pm for the LaTEENa Power! Curriculum Facilitator Training.

Lateena Power! was created to empower Latina youth to envision and pursue their goals
and thereby attain the success they deserve. The program is based on the premise—developed by renowned psychologist, Dr. Ana Nogales in her groundbreaking book, Latina Power!—that Latinas inherit 7 cultural strengths and can use them to succeed in life. LaTEENa Power! participants explore the 7 strengths inherent within them—and learn how to develop and use these strengths to envision their future, set desired goals, reach out to mentors, and work toward achieving their dreams.

Issues Covered in the LaTEENa Power! Program:

  • Self-awareness

  • Personal goals & dreams

  • Valuing education

  • Successful role models

  • Friendships & peer pressure

  • Confronting dating abuse

  • Teen pregnancy

  • Depression & suicide

  • Overcoming fears

  • Parental vs. personal expectations

  • Earning, budgeting & saving money

  • Finding a mentor

  • Honoring & respecting yourself

LaTEENa Power! can be used in an English Language Arts course and is appropriate
for both traditional and alternative instructional settings. The sessions provide students practice in writing, research, technology, and communication skills. This program is an excellent tool for teachers, social workers, counselors, mental health professionals, facilitators, victim advocates, youth ministers, and more.

Trainees will receive a "Certificate of Completion" and have the opportunity to become a Certified Facilitator by completing and submitting an application provided at the training. Qualified applicants will be certified (LPCF), and receive a facilitator certificate.
